Shire plc Chooses Rhythmyx for Its Enhanced Intranet

London, UK — 10 April 2007 — Global specialty pharmaceutical company Shire, recently selected Percussion Software's Web Content Management solution Rhythmyx as part of a relaunch of its company intranet. Shire is headquartered in the UK and employs over 4,000 people in locations around the world. Its intranet was first launched in 2002 and is being redesigned for launch later this year. Shire is now the third largest pharmaceutical company in the UK and one of the fastest growing specialty companies in the world. Shire's business is focused on attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, human genetic therapies, gastrointestinal and renal diseases. Revenues for 2006 were $1,7 billion.

A key objective of the intranet project is to enable it to act as a gateway to all sources of company information while at the same time allowing personalisation of information. Shire is also looking for its intranet to support live two-way communication, password protected areas and blogs.

By increasing the number of content contributors and editors, Shire will be able to generate content easily, re-use and refine content across departments and countries, thereby reducing the number of internal processes and ensuring dynamic and engaging content.
