Linux Version of Percussion’s Rhythmyx Gains Popularity

WOBURN, MA – October 17, 2006 – Percussion Software, a leading developer of Web Content Management (WCM) software for multi-channel, customer-centric applications, today announced that the University of Rhode Island (URI) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the UK are among the growing list of customers deploying its award-winning Rhythmyx Web Content Management (WCM) software on the open source Linux server platform. These Rhythmyx for Linux customers are representative of increased interest in Rhythmyx on the Linux platform in the education, government, technology, healthcare and other industry sectors.

URI and NTU join Percussion customers Churchill Downs Incorporated, owner and operator of world-renowned horse racing venues including the Kentucky Derby; and the MathWorks, the leading developer and supplier of software for technical computing and model-based design in deploying Rhythmyx on the Linux server platform.

Rhythmyx for Linux is certified against Red Hat Linux AS version 4.0. Rhythmyx is a standards-based, enterprise-ready Web Content Management system that relies on industry standards such as XML, XSL, Java, SOAP, HTML, JavaScript and the Eclipse Framework to provide system extensibility and integration.

Industry market research firm IDC reported recently, in its latest Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker, that Linux now holds more than a 12 percent share of the worldwide server market, up slightly from 2005. In the second quarter, Linux server shipments grew 9.7 per cent, with the volume server segment representing the majority of both revenue and units. Linux server worldwide revenues for the second quarter added up to $12.3 billion.
