Huntington Selects Percussion Software's Rhythmyx 5 Enterprise Content Management Solution
Midwest Bank to Rely on Rhythmyx's De-Coupled Delivery Architecture and Content Reuse Capabilities to Support Web Site Enhancements
WOBURN, MA - May 24, 2004 - Percussion Software, a leading developer of practical software solutions enabling customers to maximize the value and quality of enterprise content, today announced that The Huntington National Bank, a major mid-western regional bank, has selected the company's RhythmyxT 5 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution to improve its content production process and more efficiently manage its corporate intranet and public Web site huntington.com. Headquartered in Columbus, OH, Huntington is a $30 billion bank with more than 300 branch offices throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia. The bank also operates in seven other states and has international operations in the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong.
Huntington began a search nearly two years ago for a content management system that could extend the content authoring and maintenance processes to its line-of-business users across the bank. The bank’s IT group wanted a solid CMS solution to free its developers from time-consuming Web content maintenance and enable them to focus instead on creating strategic applications. After an exhaustive competitive evaluation – in which more than a dozen vendors were scored on 25 key criteria – Huntington chose Percussion’s Rhythmyx 5 solution.
"Rhythmyx will help us shift content development and maintenance from our over-burdened IT staff to the content owners. This will allow us to focus the development team on more important projects that impact our bottom line," said Barry Salmons, Vice President and Intranet Manager at Huntington. "Percussion also struck the delicate balance between usability and how the CMS solution fits within our IT infrastructure, which was very important. Ease of use is very important to us, as is Rhythmyx's De-Coupled Delivery. The ability to de-couple the content production from the publishing is a big win. With Rhythmyx, our existing infrastructure can stay intact while we just add on new CMS capabilities and content."
Rhythmyx technology will eventually help manage huntington.com's content, but the initial focus is on its intranet. A year ago, the intranet was redesigned to better align with the bank's updated branding. First, Huntington standardized the intranet's look and feel. With this new partnership, they're working on the second step, which is to improve workflows and manage content more efficiently. Nearly all of the bank's 8,200 associates have access to the intranet, and there are almost 6,500 unique users a day. It's a high-end production environment where content on approximately 5,000 pages and on multiple servers needs updating regularly. In addition, content is contributed from over 100 different sources and content owners and ranges from static pages, to instant news postings, to applications, including human resources information, expense reporting, and operational and administrative functions, to name a few.
"Banks everywhere are always looking for ways to improve both operational efficiency and customer service," said Barry Reynolds, president and CEO of Percussion Software. "Moving to a comprehensive enterprise content management solution like Rhythmyx 5 ensures that Huntington can meet its demanding requirements. Getting timely, accurate information into the hands of employees, customers and prospects is critical to the success of any retail bank today."
Rhythmyx 5 is an award-winning ECM solution that combines industry-first capabilities to solve the key problems of enterprise content management: content reuse and multi-channel delivery of documents, web sites, images and digital assets. Namely, Rhythmyx provides the industry's only De-Coupled Delivery architecture for cost-effective scaling; the industry's first Intelligent Relationship capability for proactively managing all content dependencies and connections; and Active Assembly, a unique graphical user interface for enabling business users to easily reuse content. Rhythmyx's Intelligent Relationships capability enables proactive management of the connections or dependencies among enterprise content ensuring no incorrect or untimely content is published. Active Assembly enables enterprise content to be organized and grouped for documents and Web pages without the need for costly and time-consuming template redesigns from developers.
