Percussion Software & Rhythmyx - In The News

April 28, 2008 - CMS Wire Review
Personalization is back for Web Content Management

Once upon a time personalization was a magic and wonderful word. The promises came and went, largely unfulfilled. That’s not to say that the technology didn’t work. It did. Nor is it to say that the basic ideas were bad. They weren’t. The problems by and large were related to how people attempted to use the stuff and the complexities and costs related to integrating it.

Amazon and others have continued to pursue the grail, if in modest strokes. Now were seeing web content management vendors investing in this direction. I say “grand!” If it’s done simply and with out too much ambition, personalization can be a great tool.

Percussion's Rhythmyx was Ovation's recommendation, and from their assessments and evaluations, we agreed," said Aearo's Vice President of Marketing Services Jim Gray.

Percussion Repositions Web Content Management Solution

Jumping square in the middle of the Web 2.0 bandwagon, enterprise Web CMS vendor, Percussion, has announced a new Solution Series for their Rhythmyx Web CMS platform.

While we’re all aware of the broad scope of Web 2.0, the focus of Percussion’s effort are on target, if a bit more focused. This latest update hones in on integrating Web 2.0 content flows, and on a concept that other Web CMS vendors, such as Hot Banana, have placed a lot of value on — measuring the performance of content and creating feedback loops.

The Special Demands of Customer-Centric Content: How Organizations Can Maximize Their Returns

Percussion Software's own Vernon Imrich, Chief Technology Officer, writes for DM Review a great article concerning maximizing your returns.

"Customer interaction and communication are keys to driving increased sales, improving customer retention and maximizing lifetime customer value. To leverage customer-centric content for business advantage, organizations need multi-channel Web Content Management (WCM) that's capable of helping them to increase their return on content (ROC). Maximizing ROC requires an approach that treats WCM systems as highly agile business applications that draw on data from other enterprise systems - rather than being just another part of the infrastructure.

Behind every good e-Gov program ...

"The business case for WCM is to give organizations a way to get (information they already have) to new audiences," said Vern Imrich, chief technology officer of Percussion Software Inc. "But most content that agencies have was written by people that have never written for anyone but themselves and other people in their department."

That means there has to be a thorough, automated process for converting content and filtering it into forms that are appropriate for the audience. "If you force the users to do all the work, the process fails," Imrich said.

Once XSLT 2.0 is finalized, we anticipate being able to do all of this in the XSLT stylesheet, which will help make our applications more modular and allow us to implement new filtering features by writing or upgrading XSLT stylesheets, rather than Java code."
