What is a Blog?

A blog, also called "weblog" or "Web log," is a chronological series of entries on a Web page. To contribute to a blog, the author simply adds a new entry to the series, rather than adding a new page or replacing the existing content.

Blogs often serve as online journals or editorial columns, where authors regularly post insights and links related to particular topics. In addition, many companies use blogs to discuss industry topics in a way that invites further discussion. Corporate blogs serve to inform site visitors of a company's viewpoints without the formality of a press release or other official statement.
