The View from Gilbane Boston 2007
Posted by Vern Imrich on Thursday, December 06, 2007Back from the Gilbane Boston 2007 conference with some quick observations to ponder as the year end approaches.
Web Content Management (WCM) is as vibrant a market as ever. The show floor was a buzz with folks looking to do more with the Web in 2008. Percussion was there, showing off our very exciting new "Percussion 2.0 Solution Series." Here's a look at it for those of you who missed the show:
Folks are taking WCM further than ever. Everyone was talking about new projects, new sites, new channels, and new ways to utilize the Web to drive their business.
Best Practices are key. Everyone wanted to know not "how do we get there" but "how do we do it right" as in, the best practices required to make these new channels and automation actually deliver. Percussion contributed a few examples of our own during the show.
One of our customers, Consumers Union's own Reed Fox, gave a great panel presentation on Brand Management.
I gave a presentation myself called "Multi-channel WCM Projects: Making them Work" to the CM Pros event held a day before the main Gilbane event. You can flip through the slide presentation here, but look for a Percussion Webcast soon on this topic. So much of the success in these new Web initiatives are based on human issues, process, and other best practices. It's a rich topic we all need to delve into more.
